An Overdue Update!

By | Uncategorised

WHAT A DUDE continued Insignia Racing’s excellent record by winning impressively at Redcar.  He ran a few times for us and was only out of the prize money on one occasion.  This time, he was claimed by trainer Brian Ellison, and we wish his new connections well.

The syndicate’s second horse, WHAT AN ICON, has also run a few times and showed she needs more time.  She is a lovely scopey filly and needs time to strengthen up.  She has therefore been given a bit of a holiday and will hopefully run again towards the end of the season.

EXCITMENT BUILDS FOR INSIGNIA RACING’S 2022 SYNDICATE

By | Uncategorised

We are really looking forward to the coming flat season when we have a new syndicate that consists of two exciting 2 year olds.

They have very differing profiles in that one, a gelding, is a precocious early type and the other, a filly, has more size and scope and will inevitably need more time.  However, as a combination, they should provide their owners with plenty of fun throughout the season.

Shares in both horses are available for a minimum of 5%
A 5% share is £5,750 + VAT
This includes everything and owners are never asked for additional payment

2 Year Old Bay Filly
Sixties Icon ex Inffiraaj

This is a lovely looking filly with a bit of size and scope.  Her dam has produced 3 foals, all of whom have won.  Two of them were full sisters, plus a half-brother, Fangorn, who has also won, all of which bodes well.  She is Great British Bonus registered (£20k bonus offered for certain fillies’ races).

2 Year Old Bay Gelding
Kessaar ex Balaawy

This gelding is short coupled, has a good backend and looks a typical early, speedy type.  He has shown promise in his early work, is very active and has a great attitude.  He just wants to get on with things!  Kessaar has his first runners this season and this gelding is the mare’s first foal, his pedigree is therefore unproven, although a sire by Kodiac and a dam by Bated Breath isn’t a bad start!

TINA BREEDS HER FIRST WINNER!

By | Uncategorised

Tina is delighted to have bred her first winner, ICONIQUE.

The 3 year old filly is by Sixties Icon ex Rose Cheval and is Tina’s first and only home bred so far.  Iconique is leased to the Newmarket Racing Club and has been very patiently handled by trainer, Charlie Fellowes.

Having been left to strengthen up, she did not run as a two year old and the benefit of this has been proven this season.  From 5 runs the filly has only finished out of the first 4 once.

Her well deserved win came at Yarmouth, in the (Class 4) (0-80, 3yo+) Sky Sports Racing Handicap over 1m3½f, where she was given a perfect ride by Hayley Turner.  She won relatively comfortably and all concerned were thrilled with the win.

TIME FOR AN UPDATE!!

By | Uncategorised

The Insignia Racing Syndicate filly is called PETAL POWER.

She has given us lots of fun during the season and has been in the first 4 on 5 of her nine runs.  She lacks for nothing in her willingness to please and she is a real battler.  She, and her owners, deserve to get their head in front soon!

INSIGNIA RACING SYNDICATE – 2021 2 y-o FILLY

By | Uncategorised

We’re very excited about the 2021 turf season.

This year we have just the one filly in the INSIGNIA RACING’s STRIPE SYNDICATE.  She is by first season sire Profitable ex Dayrose (Daylami).  Profitable has got off to a great start with his first runner  being a winner.  Our filly’s dam. Dayrose, won twice herself and has produced 6 winners from her 8 runners, this includes Dubday an 8 time winner of just under £1 million.

The filly is showing good early signs at home at Mick Channon’s stables in West Ilsley.  We’re looking forward to owners coming up with a fun name for her and to seeing her on the racecourse.

EXCITING NEW STALLION, RUMBLE INTHEJUNGLE TO STAND AT NORMAN COURT STUD

By | Uncategorised

I am delighted that RUMBLE INTHEJUNGLE has been secured to stand at Norman Court Stud as I’m sure he will be a popular stallion. He has the combination of looks, sire line, dam line and race performance to make him a really commercial sire and I’m looking forward to having him on the NCS roster.

Rumble Inthejungle pulverised 10 top class two year olds, including Soldier’s Call when winning the Gr.3 Molecomb Stakes and following this triumph jockey Tom Queally enthused, “I couldn’t pull him up today. He showed a lot of speed, he is clearly a colt with a lot of class.” Rumble Inthejungle was also placed in the Gr.1 Middle Park Stakes to Ten Sovereigns and the Gr.2 Norfolk Stakes to Shang Shang. He was a 110 BHA rated two year old.

His dam, Guana, is by top sire Dark Angel and his granddam is by Champion Sire Cadeaux Genereux. In addition, Gr.2 Flying Childers winner and Champion Sire Prince Sabo appears under his third dam.

Rumble Inthejungle comes from the all-conquering Danehill line branch of Northern Dancer blood. His sire, Bungle Inthejungle represents the Exceed and Excel line renowned for producing precocious speed and Bungle Inthejungle himself is a young sire who is producing high class two-year-olds including Gr.2 Lowther Stakes winner Living In The Past.

He ticks a lot of boxes

THE PERFECT START TO THE 2019 TURF SEASON FOR INSIGNIA RACING

By | Uncategorised

Diamond Dougal put up a super performance at Windsor in a competitive 6f handicap.  It was his first outing of the season and Insignia Racing’s first 2019 runner.

Dougal needs to get his toe in and the drying ground had been a concern, however, feedback from jockeys said it was on the slow side of good which suited him perfectly.  Given a confident ride by Charlie Bishop, he travelled comfortably throughout, was perhaps a little keen mid-race was brought to the outside to make his challenge about a furlong out and nearly got to the front too soon!

Mick was confident the horse has strengthened up through the winter and provided the ground is right, he could give his owners a lot of fun through the season.

COULSTY ADDED TO NOMINATIONS PORTFOLIO

By | Uncategorised

Rathasker Stud’s Coulsty is to stand at Norman Court Stud and I am thrilled to have been asked to assist with nominations.

He is a gorgeous looking horse and being by hot sire Kodiac, should be popular with British breeders.  He was a really genuine racehorse, who always gave of his all, a trait I really like.  His pedigree speaks for itself and with some cracking foals on the ground, it bodes well for when they hit the yearling sales market.

A Brief Update

By | Update

It has been a while since any news appeared here, but hopefully the wait has been worthwhile with a new improved website!

The Summer has gone well.  JUNGLE JUICE has now run 4 times and has yet to be out of the money, having form figures of 2 – 3 – 1 – 4.  Insignia Racing’s other two year old, SWISS PHILLY, has yet to appear on the racecourse, but is pleasing in her work at home.  She has grown, and really strengthened up but has therefore needed time to come to herself.  The lovely summer has not entirely suited DIAMOND DOUGAL, who ideally needs soft ground, so patience with him has been the order of the day.

We recently had an owners morning at West Ilsley, when we saw all 3 horses out on the gallops, enjoyed the usual Channon hospitality and had a really enjoyable lunch in The Harrow.

A trip to Deauville is always fun and I had my usual trip over there for the racing and sales weekend, plus the not to be missed Weatherbys, Racing Post, Royal Barriere lunch before racing on Saturday!  I took the opportunity of catching up with Damien from France Galop, to discuss plans for the coming Arc at ParisLongchamp, when Racing Breaks are taking a large number of guests.

I have been delighted to see First Season Sire GREGORIAN get off to such a good start with his first runners.  He already has 10 winners and 3 stakes placed horses, which bodes really well for the future.

As ever SIXTIES ICON continues to fire in the winners and has an admirable strike rate of 50% winners to runners.

DIAMOND DOUGAL GETS 2018 TURF SEASON OFF TO A FLIER

By | Diamond Dougal

Diamond Dougal

DIAMOND DOUGAL made his racecourse debut at Bath’s very same meeting as a juvenile twelve months ago and whilst he finished third in his maiden that day, the jarring conditions saw him away from the track until August. That setback however saw him truly flourish in the autumn, winning two races and being placed on three other occasions.

Whilst he clearly benefitted from that enforced absence, he’s certainly done well over the winter and took the Class 4 five and a half furlong three year old handicap in fine style under Charlie Bishop. Always in touch behind the leaders, he was asked for an effort at the two pole and extended away to win by over two lengths.

The Handicapper put him up 9lb for that success, so he took his chance in the Class 2 handicap at Sandown the following Friday, carrying a 6lb penalty. He ran an absolute cracker and was just caught on the line beaten a short head into second.
